Javier Gonzales, tenor Canticum Novum Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Knight Recorded by Jack Loeffler Captain's Aria Synopsis: The story takes place 10 years after the conquest of the Aztecs by Captain Cortez. He has had a child by Malinche, his translator and later his paramour. Returning from a trip, he sees the 8-year old child "dressed as a savage" and vows to take back to Spain to teach him to be proper nobleman. Malinche strongly objects but is overruled. In the Aztec temple he believes he sees the ghost of Moctezuma come back to haunt him.
